Walmart to debut grocery delivery to homes across the U.S.

Walmart is expanding online grocery delivery to homes through it “Walmart InHome Delivery” service launching this fall according to Supermarket News.

The food aisle to fridge service will use smart technology using a wearable camera for employees that enter a customer’s home.

Customers will be able to screen all deliveries remotely. According to Marc Lore, president and CEO of Walmart eCommerce U.S., said “Walmart InHome Delivery is a new service designed to help customers save time and offer yet another convenient choice for grocery shopping. The service does so by delivering groceries even when customers can’t be home.”

Before employees can deliver groceries to customers, the InHome Delivery staff must complete extensive training, which includes the dos and don’ts of entering homes, choosing the right groceries and organizing a refrigerator.

Interested customers can order via Grocery.Walmart.com, select the “InHome Delivery” option and then choose their designated checkout date. The other options include the entry point for InHome Delivery staff.

Pricing for InHome Delivery will be revealed before its launch in the Fall.
